We're looking for a senior backend engineer to help design and scale the services that power our core product. You'll own systems end to end, from data modeling to production incident response, and partner closely with product and frontend teams to ship reliable features fast. This is a high-ownership role for someone who likes distributed systems problems and doesn't need much hand-holding.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Go, Python, or Java
- Own data models and query performance across PostgreSQL and Redis-backed services
- Participate in on-call rotation and drive incident postmortems to root cause
- Review pull requests and mentor mid-level engineers on system design
- Collaborate with product to translate requirements into scalable technical designs
- Instrument services with metrics, logging, and tracing to improve observability
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building backend services in Go, Python, or Java
- Strong understanding of relational databases and query optimization
- Experience designing and versioning REST or gRPC APIs
- Comfortable working directly with Kubernetes and containerized deployments
- Track record of debugging production incidents under time pressure
- Clear written communication for design docs and code review
Nice to have
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar
- Prior work in a regulated or high-compliance industry
- Contributions to open-source backend frameworks or libraries
