Payroll Specialist

Seattle, WAInternshiponsite$65K – $81K / yrPosted 2026-06-28

We need a payroll specialist to make sure everyone gets paid correctly and on time, every single pay period, no exceptions. You'll process payroll runs, handle tax filings, and be the go-to person when someone has a question about their paycheck. Accuracy and confidentiality matter enormously in this role, since a payroll mistake affects someone's rent check, not just a line in a spreadsheet.

What you'll do

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with state and federal tax law
  • Handle employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and tax withholding
  • Reconcile payroll data with benefits and general ledger accounts
  • Process new hires, terminations, and payroll changes in Workday
  • Support year-end tax filings including W-2 and 1099 preparation

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience
  • Working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax compliance
  • Experience with Workday or a similar payroll/HRIS platform
  • High attention to detail and comfort with confidential information
  • Strong organizational skills to manage recurring deadlines
  • Clear communicator when explaining payroll issues to employees

Nice to have

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
  • Experience supporting international or contractor payroll
  • Familiarity with benefits administration processes
