We need a staff-level platform engineer to own the infrastructure layer that every product team depends on. This means Terraform-managed cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and the internal tooling that keeps deploys boring. You'll set technical direction across teams, not just write code, so strong influence-without-authority skills matter as much as deep systems knowledge. You'll spend real time in design reviews arguing for the boring, reliable option over the flashy one, and usually winning that argument.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across multiple environments
- Build internal developer platform tooling to streamline deploys and rollbacks
- Set technical standards for observability, security, and reliability across teams
- Lead architecture reviews for major infrastructure and platform changes
- Partner with security to harden cloud configurations and access controls
- Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical escalation point org-wide
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering roles
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform and cloud provider APIs (AWS/GCP)
- Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives
- Strong Kubernetes fundamentals including networking and workload scheduling
- Excellent written communication for RFCs and architecture docs
- Experience mentoring engineers at multiple levels
Nice to have
- Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd
- Background in cost optimization for large-scale cloud environments
- Prior on-call leadership during major incidents
